Phoebe The Spy is based on a true story and depicts how people would get involved by hiding their true identity in order to help George Washington and the American Revolution. Phoebe Fraunces was a daughter of a patriot, who got a job as a housekeeper even though she was actually a spy. While she worked in George Washington's house, her mission was to tell her father if she saw anything out of the ordinary. She was to report to her father every day after work and she did so for two months. Her father warned her to not trust anyone and to be aware of someone with the name that begins with the letter "T". Phoebe knew everyone around George Washington and she thought she knew their names as well. However, one day she saw one of the bodyguards named Hickey sprinkle white powder on top of George Washington's food. She got suspicious and found out that his full name was Thomas Hickey. She reacted quickly and threw the food out of the window. George Washington was shocked by her actions, but Phoebe pointed out that the chickens who ate his food got poisoned and died. As a result, Hickey was arrested and General George Washington was saved by Phoebe the Spy.
